APPNA Deplores Attack at the Glasgow Airport
Westmont, IL, July 5, 2007: The attack at the Glasgow airport by a group of doctors is a deplorable and cowardly act. This is a horrific incident and we condemn this attack on humanity by the same people who are supposed to save lives. They should be harshly punished if their guilt is proven. Six doctors who call themselves Muslim do not represent the world's 1.2 billion Muslims. Physicians are taught to be healers, not killers. Muslims are taught to respect not just human life, but all life.
No one claims that one particular religion is responsible when the IRA (which includes physicians, engineers, lawyers and scientists) killed many innocent people during their time. What happened in England or several other places in the recent past is done by one group and they should be brought to justice. Anger and resentment should not be directed toward Islam or Muslims. Thankfully these attacks were thwarted and the criminals duly apprehended. May such despicable schemes never come to fruition anywhere in the world. We condemn any and all barbaric acts against innocent civilians.
