Dear APPNA Family,

What a pleasure to share with you some of the successes and strides PPS APPNA House in Chicago is making – Last year in mid December PPS – APPNA Illinois (2014 Council and BOT) with the help of Central APPNA (much appreciation for EC and BOT APPNA 2014) was able to buy a 4 Apartments building in Chicago – Forest Park 2 blocks from Blue and Green line, Metra train, a block from bus station right across from Oak Park Hospital – 15-20 minutes via subway from downtown and Medical district IL. PPS was able to acquire this building for $387000 plus closing cost and furnished it for additional $20000. APPNA Financed the project with a loan amount of $250000 at 6% interest and rest were raised by the APPNA Local Chapter with in last year. This is a true asset other then the APPNA office in Westmont IL. This is a true depiction of the slogan BUILD INSTITUTIONS ! The House and The self-scheduling Externship program has already served hundreds- in less then 5 months we have served more then 78 residents in house and in our externship program more then 580 young student doctors are registered and growing by the day.

We want the to deliver the best possible living, a nurturing educational environment and nothing less! This place is not a sarai or a motel – Students who are going thru pledge to serve APPNA and fellow physicians once they get established in return they are mentored and provided with the clinical experience at a very subsidized rate. We have established a reading room / library at the facility and weekly lectures are arranged with faculty being Loyola University Residents (All being American Graduates from MSA) and APPNA Illinois Members and Preceptors from our Observer ship Program. Out of 22 who we served till mid Feb. Eight matched and are starting residency this July! So far our CS training and mentoring after hours Classes every week – is some thing we are very proud of with a passing success rate of 100%. The residents who have stayed at other facilities call this place a haven – it has regular professional cleaning services, pest control, we provide from bed sheets to pillows, kitchen utensils etc.

More importantly all transactions are done through the website www.pdpsil.com, No cash transactions, every one goes thru the same registration process and is first come first serve basis, whether it be housing or externships, with clear and transparent accounting. Cost to run this facility is high but we feel, we need to do it right otherwise not at all! We feel this model can be replicated and we will assist in what ever way needed.
