Home > Immediate Past President’s Thank You Message
THANK YOU!

Dear Members and Volunteers of APPNA; Thank you for your services.

As president, my job was to serve you; to ensure civil and orderly discourse; to foster an environment for the success of our members. In doing so, together, we’ve made great strides. We served our poor, we educated physicians around the world, we embraced our youth, and we restructured ourselves to position APPNA for success for years to come; all while navigating beyond the greatest distractions APPNA has ever experienced. We accomplished this due to your effort and support. For that, I thank you.

We pride ourselves in setting up Mobile health clinics in the United States, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. These clinics bring healthcare to areas where the people have no other option. Starting this year, members of these communities have access to the care they rightly deserve. We accomplished this due to your effort and support. For that, I thank you.

As we launched the first Global Health Summit, it opened collaboration and participation with PAKISTANI PHYSICIANS FROM AROUND THE WORLD. We have shared knowledge in our meetings in the US, as well as in Pakistan. Physicians, Residents, and Medical students benefited from the latest knowledge and techniques shared on the international stage. We accomplished this due to your effort and support. For that, I thank you.

God willing, we will continue this APPNA Global Healthcare Summit every year to not only share the skills and knowledge but also enhance APPNA’s image around the globe. It will be my honor to continue to help the future leadership in this regard.

At our summer meeting, we had our first youth convention. It included both educational and extracurricular activities. Through youth engagement and with mentorship from senior members, we are building a strong future for APPNA. We are empowering our youth to carry the torch forward and to new levels. We accomplished this due to your effort and support. For that, I thank you.

Through amendments to the Bylaws, we have improved the Governance of APPNA by expanding BOT to better serve you, the members. Democratic processes put the power exactly where it should be; in the hands of you, the members. These foundational changes are necessary for the continual growth and improvement of our organization. We accomplished this due to your effort and Vote. For that, I thank you.

We continue our charitable missions through Cornea donations, cleft palate repair, Dam fund donation, medical missions to Rohingya relief, Gujrat cleft palate hospital and Guatemala. We accomplished this due to your effort and support. For that, I thank you.

Finally, we saw our way through the unpleasant lawsuits against APPNA and its Volunteers. I am glad to report THAT ALL LAW SUITS WERE RULED IN FAVOR OF APPNA THIS YEAR.

Only one lawsuit is pending by some APPNA members against APPNA. I’m confident, sanity will prevail, and it will be dismissed as well. We accomplished this through your effort and support. For that, I thank you.

Ladies and gentlemen, a vocal minority touted that APPNA is fractured. AS I END MY TERM OF SERVICE, I ASSURE YOU, APPNA HAS ACTUALLY NEVER BEEN AS UNITED. The silent majority declared this unity of purpose by voting on amendments and then participating in the first Campaign free election. Such an election was unheard of in APPNA.

Even more impressive was the fact that many who opposed the amendments later participated in the BOT election process. We accomplished this DUE TO YOUR EFFORT AND SUPPORT and for that, I thank you.

I have been a member of APPNA for over 20 years, and it has been my privilege to serve the organization in different capacity. But this year, it was my greatest honor to serve you as your president. All of our accomplishments are due to your effort and support. For that, I thank you.

In the end, I wish the new team of Dr. Naseem Shekhani, all the best for 2019 and extend my full support to take APPNA to the next level.

Sincerely,

Iqbal Zafar Hamid, MD
President APPNA 2018
