Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the APPNA Medical Corps Medical Mission to Lahore, Pakistan!

*All medical missions are currently on hold due to COVID-19. Please check back at a later time.

APPNA Medical Corps has partnered in the past with the Syrian American Medical Society Global Response (SAMSGR) for medical missions to Lahore. In 2017, 15 physicians with specialties in Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, Cardiology, and Psychiatry volunteered their time at Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex and The Children’s Hospital.

These physicians performed surgeries, provided direct patient care, and completed hospital rounds. More than 1,000 patients were treated free of charge during this mission. In addition to working with patients, the physicians conducted teaching rounds with fellows, residents, and medical students in the hospital setting. Both hospitals had their medical symposium during the time of the mission and the visiting physicians gave talks at the symposium. These medical services were very well received by both hospitals and they have expressed keen interest in continuing future collaboration.

This mission provided an opportunity to build an ongoing working relationship with the charity hospitals in Pakistan. There are plans to collaborate further with the respective departments to enhance their operations, transfer technology, and conduct an ongoing faculty exchange.

The first step to help with future missions is to complete the Online Volunteer Form. Once you complete the Online Volunteer Form, you will receive an email requesting more information about you in the form of your CV/ resume and a short statement describing your interest in the mission. You will also need to complete the APPNA Liability Release Form. To confirm your commitment to the Lahore Mission, proof of air fare purchase is required 6 weeks prior to the mission start date. It is your responsibility as a volunteer to pay for air fare, lodging, and food expenses for the mission.
