APPNA Alumni Scholarship Project is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year. During these past 10 years we have accomplished a great deal. The initial contribution from an anonymous donor in the amount of ONE MILLION DOLLARS encouraged the alumni members to raise additional matching funds. Our initial investments have done well and we currently have a total amount of $3,137,983.00 invested with Stephens, a member of New York Stock Exchange under close supervision of Hank Bashore who has been diligently managing APPNA Accounts for over 35 years. Since its inception we have distributed $323,400.00 to the participating medical school alumni to benefit the needy students.

The GOAL of the program is to help deserving students at various medical colleges to ease the financial burden during their studies. Most of these students belong to under-privileged families and many of them have other siblings studying at other institutions concurrently making it hard for their parents to pay for their education.

The Scholarship Committee has deliberated and unanimously agreed to disburse funds every year at the rate of 3% of the funds invested as of December 31st of the prior year. This policy has been adopted to ensure long term viability of funds to be disbursed in future.

Each alumni is required to submit names of recipients of preceding year to the APPNA Central office prior to getting the funds released for disbursement for any given year. This information is crucial to be kept of file in case of audit. Following is Current Account Value as of September 30, 2023.

Medical College Current Account Value
Nishtar $1,432,014
King Edward $718,399
Jinnah Sindh $274,351
Quaid-e-Azam $199,371
Rawalpindi $177,627
Allama Iqbal $138,032
Fatima Jinnah $123,334
Khyber $46,413
Bolan $28,442

We are pleased that in 2022 Allama Iqbal Alumni joined the Scholarship Program. We want to invite non-participating Alumni to join this worthy program.

The Scholarship Program is ongoing. All donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE. These scholarships are distributed to the deserving medical students at various medical colleges in Pakistan. This is the best way to donate your Zakat funds. Please visit www.appna.org to donate online or to download and print the pledge form to make your payment by check or credit card.
