APPNA Medical Corps had the opportunity to conduct two medical missions in 2018.
The first medical mission to Gujrat was from February 17-23, 2018. Physicians with specialties in Anesthesiology, Maxillofacial Plastic Surgery, Ophthalmic Reconstructive Surgery, Nephrology, and patient safety performed cleft lip/ palate and ophthalmic reconstructive surgery on children at Aziz Bhatii Shaheed Hospital, the largest hospital in Gujrat.
These physicians also assisted in outpatient clinics, performed comprehensive reviews of patient safety and risk assessment, in addition to conducting educational seminars and workshops.
The second medical mission to Gujrat was from December 12-18, 2018. Physicians with specialties in Anesthesiology, Maxillofacial Surgery, and Plastic Surgery performed cleft lip/ palate surgery on children at Cleft Hospital Gujrat. These physicians also assisted in outpatient clinics.
The first step to help with future missions is to complete the Online Volunteer Form. Once you complete the Online Volunteer Form, you will receive an email requesting more information about you in the form of your CV/ resume and a short statement describing your interest in the mission. You will also need to complete the APPNA Liability Release Form. To confirm your commitment to the Gujrat Medical Mission, proof of air fare purchase is required 6 weeks prior to the mission start date.
