[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]The recent monsoon rains in Karachi and other cities of Sind, resulted in massive flooding and thousands were affected. Appna SWDRC and COVID 19 teams were already raising funds to provide food in this area, but overnight, the need became enormous as flooding affected homes of thousands and food and clean water was a major need.

Our donors were very generous and due to their support, APPNA has raised 85,000 dollars so far. The DMV and PPS chapters were in the forefront and raised the most funds which were matched by APPNA. Other chapters like South Florida and Richmond, Virginia chapters are actively raising funds also. ​

Initially, we partnered with Saylani Foundation on ground and they have an extensive network and matched our funds and provided hot meals to over 180,000 people in various areas of Karachi including Yusuf Goth, Machar Colony, Surjani Town, Malir, Liyari and Orangi. They also provided food in Dadu and in Sukkur and surrounding areas.

More recently, other organizations are collaborating with us including Shahid Afridi Foundation which is distributing food in Mirpurkhas and Karachi and also matching funds from Appna.  Khana Gher in Khuda ki Basti will be providing free food daily for the next three weeks to almost 3,0000 people daily and Helping Hands is giving food rations to 150 families in the Tharparkar area.

Again, we would not have been able to do this without the generosity of our donors and also those who matched these funds.
