The Social Welfare and Disaster Relief Committee enters 2026 with renewed dedication to serving vulnerable populations through coordinated, high-impact initiatives across Pakistan and the United States.
Key Initiatives in Pakistan
Our foremost objective is the establishment of a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Room in Rawalpindi, in partnership with the ChildLife Foundation. This collaboration builds upon ChildLife’s exemplary model of 24/7, free, high-quality emergency care that has transformed pediatric ER services nationwide and markedly reduced preventable child mortality.
We continue to advance the Cornea Transplant Initiative, through which more than 9,000 corneas have been donated and successfully transplanted, restoring sight to individuals blinded by accidents, diseases, or trauma across over 40 centers nationwide. Hunger alleviation efforts will intensify through the Ramzan Food Project 2026, delivering essential food rations to help families observe the holy month with dignity during times of food insecurity. Meanwhile, water well projects are expanding across Sindh and other parts of the country to ensure sustainable access to clean and safe water for underserved communities.
U.S. and Global Efforts
In the United States, the “Adopt a Food Bank” initiative continues to grow, encouraging physicians and partners to sponsor local food banks—such as the North Texas Food Bank—to combat hunger and food insecurity within neighboring communities. In partnership with ICNA Relief, the Committee is expanding mobile clinic programs nationwide, delivering free healthcare and preventive services directly to underserved populations through physician-led outreach.
The Committee is also enhancing its disaster preparedness and response capabilities through specialized training programs designed to ensure rapid, coordinated, and effective deployment of medical, nutritional, and logistical aid by Pakistani physicians during natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies worldwide.
These initiatives reaffirm our collective mission to heal, sustain, and protect lives across borders with compassion, integrity, and unwavering commitment to service.
