APPNA BOARD OF TRUSTEES ELECTIONS 2018
INTRODUCTION
The Board of Trustee (BOT) acts as overseers and the custodian of the organization. It consists of 11 members, of which eight (8) are elected and three (3) are ex-officio. APPNA Nomination and Elections Committee (NEC) is conducting elections for 4 new BOT members under the amended bylaws of 2018. One (1) Trustee will be elected from each region (see the regional map of APPNA). Each newly elected Trustee will serve a 4-year term (Jan 1, 2019 to Dec 31, 2022).
.
The four (4) previous BOT members may assume a new 2- year transitional term as senior Trustees from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020, if they opt in upon request. This one-time transition process was approved by the Council in its Spring Meeting 2018. If they do not wish to serve the above term, then their vacancies may be filled by the new BOT election per amended bylaws.
.
There shall be no more than one board member from one Alumni Association at any given time from one region. Applicant/s belonging to the Alumni of an existing trustee’s Alma Mater, will not be eligible for election from respective region.

The new bylaws prohibit electioneering (16.4.7) for the Board of Trustees (BOT) elections. All candidates have signed for a campaign free election at the risk of disqualification.

Reporting a Campaign Violation
Electioneering includes but is not limited to letters, phone calls, emails, texts, faxes and social media postings by candidate or her/his supporters. To protect members against such activities, Nomination and Election Committee (NEC) has offered membership the facility to report such violations at the following link.

https://appna.org/form-to-file-campaign-violation-for-bot-elections/ (Disabled)

Alternatively, you can report directly via email at [email protected]. We encourage all members to report any such campaign violation.

Disciplinary Actions
Whereas direct campaigning by a candidate is ground for immediate disqualification, indirect campaign through supporters is also strictly prohibited. If a supporter is shown to be campaigning, the candidate may be fined up to $1000 and will be responsible to stop the supporter from any further campaigning. If the supporter continues to campaign, it will be grounds for disqualification of the candidate at the discretion of NEC. The supporter may also incur warning, fines and loss of voting rights as determined by NEC.

Let’s Build a New Culture of a Professional Society
We are optimistic that this campaign free election will sow the seed of a new culture of professionalism in APPNA elections. We hope you will support this effort by participation through voting for the best candidates and by reporting any campaign violations.

We are very excited to see the enthusiasm of membership to serve the Association as noted by the large number of candidates. The new bylaws have provided opportunities to eligible APPNA members from all Alumni (big and small). It is heartening to see participation by women members as well as American graduate/s.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Report Campaign Violations” tab_id=”1543250624060-a4c07cc8-d3b4″][vc_column_text]Election Completed[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tour][/vc_column][/vc_row]
